Help me give my students some tools to help with focus, emotional regulation, anxiety reduction, and meditation practice.
Liquid timers will help those that struggle the most with our daily mediation practice. Fidgets help a lot with focus!
Kind, intelligent, creative, intelligent, zany, hilarious, warmhearted, supportive, generous .... I could go on and on!
My students have been identified as gifted, but that just means that our classroom is designed to help them learn best.
Many of them have intellectual or creative talents. Many of them are passionately curious about the world, and care deeply. All of them are fantastic humans.
The best part about teaching them is watching these capable kids get excited about the world around them.
My Project
The 10 minutes we spend on daily meditation practice have been amazingly helpful to our classroom. It has helped us solve conflicts, be ready to learn, regulate feelings of anger and anxiety, and improve listening and general behavior.
Some students find this time difficult, and need some assistance with relaxation during meditation.
Some do not like to close their eyes and would prefer to look at something.
Our classroom is a busy, productive place. Every moment students spend in a heightened emotional state (anger, anxiety, etc.) is a moment they are not learning.
