Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the next journalists of the news world. They are totally captivated by everything journalism related and it is awesome to see them in action, getting the next story on campus.The students in my broadcast journalism class are part of a block class that meets for two hours daily.
The students all come from different backgrounds with different levels of socioeconomic statuses and family statuses.
When they are in the classroom they leave that all behind and focus on achieving their goals with the broadcast. It may range from a student producing, to editing, to anchoring.
My Project
The students would like to take on more adventure reporting. With that being said we have large cameras that are not able to do any types of activity taping. The students would like to use a GoPro to work more with the PSA's they create, their commercials and sports coverage. The computer requested would be used for editing the footage on the spot for quick uploads since we do not have any laptops. The barcode scanner, labels, and label maker was their suggestion for how to organize the equipment and accessories that are going to be part of this mobile journalism kit. We would also be able to use the barcode scanning equipment on other equipment we have in our classroom.
The students will be able to take their activity recording to the next level, they will be able to jump into sporting events and tape without having a huge piece of equipment or a worry that it is not secured effectively for getting that just right shot.
I appreciate the fact that the students also wanted the barcoding equipment used for keeping everything in a check out system so that it can be used for many years to come!
