Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 26 enthusiastic learners in my class who are eager to come to school on a daily basis despite the many challenges they face at home.
Our Title I school is located in a low socioeconomic part of South Los Angeles, and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students are all English language learners, some of whom are also struggling with learning disabilities.
My students come from hard-working families that have to work two jobs in order to provide basic necessities. They can't always provide the technology to help their children master the crucial foundation skills that will make them lifelong learners.
My Project
My students love creating art pieces that we can display in our classroom; however, since they are small, cutting and creating small details can be difficult since they are building their fine motor skills. With a Cricut machine, we will be able to cut shapes and figures that they can use to create art projects that will help develop their imagination.
Art is one of my favorite subjects to incorporate into my classroom and a Cricut machine will make preparing materials easier and provide more variety of supplies that my students can use in their art pieces.
I love seeing my students feel successful and Art can make those students who may be struggling academically feel proud of their work.
