This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a buzz of activity, focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere. My 3rd-grade class is in a high-need, low-income public school, nestled in the heart of Southern California. Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.
Each child in my classroom is a unique learner who comes to school each day ready to achieve at the highest levels.
As a teacher, it is my job to make sure the students have access to the materials they need, at all times, as well as use those materials in a way that will facilitate higher learning and achievement.
My Project
My students love learning about the way animals live and adapt to the areas around them. I love teaching this to them too! This year, my students and I would love to go to the Descanso Gardens, where they will take a guided tour of the land and learn all about how animals interact and adapt.
We just need to get to the garden in a safe, reliable, and secure bus.
We already have the funding to attend this wonderful docent-guided experience. Now we need the district transportation to get us there. The students are so very excited to attend this wonderful garden and can't wait until January rolls around so we can go.
