Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an amazing, vibrant collection of enthusiastic artists in a Title I, inner-city, coastal Connecticut community where 100% of our students receive free lunch and there never seems to be an end to other urgent needs.
We welcome many immigrants and transient families to our community and engage students as they navigate every kind of emotional and social challenge that you can imagine.
Economic need is high, but creative passion is even higher! Please help our creative and talented students touch the wonderful materials they need to thrive and explore.
My Project
We have been so incredibly lucky to have our sand area funded. Sand is now everywhere: scooped, dragged, leaked, poured, trucked and stacked with abandon. It's getting messy for sure. At the moment, we depend on our custodians to reset the space (resulting in massive daily sand loss). With these child-sized cleaning tools: hand-held vac, push broom and sweeper, our students will be empowered to clean-up for themselves. With this dedicated sand recycling equipment, we can easily replace the sand each day....prolonging the fun and facilitating endless days of constructive mess! The shop vac is for one last pass over the field at the end of the day to keep everyone happy.
