This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every day, my students struggle to connect to other children at recess, lunch, and community because they cannot play games like baseball, soccer, basketball, soccer, and tennis. This year, we focused on giving our special needs students the fundamental skills to join any youth sports league and the necessary skills to be a part of the team seamlessly. As a class, they have learned the fundamentals of running, shooting a basket, making a goal, passing to teammates, defending in the key, and serving a great ball in tennis.

All children, regardless of ability, deserve the opportunity to play sports with others as a way to connect and build relationships that last a lifetime.

The difference it has made in my students life is priceless, prior to teaching youth sports skills my students were never invited to play during recess or asked to participate in the school sports teams. They spent thier time on the sidelines watching others play the sports they love.. Now, they are the first students signed up to play on our school teams and the first to be out on the field. They are praised for their skills and dedication. The year is ending, and our baseball equipment was stolen from the classroom. This has devastated all students as they were all looking forward to learning about baseball and hitting the ball. These items would be used to replace our missing baseball equipment. So we can play and share our love of sports with others.
