My students need games and books that they can take home from our classroom library. The books and games will provide opportunities for the students to engage with their family members and peers.

My Students
My students are an amazing and fun group of five, six and seven-year-olds. They love to read, dance, paint, play instruments and explore outside. My students have a variety of special needs, including ASD and other communication delays, so we work hard to build good social and communication skills.
Social skills and communication skills are the foundation of future success for my students as they move forward in school and in community participation.
To build these skills, we play games, have a daily read-aloud and writing activities, participate in circle time, and provide opportunities for students to practice sensory regulation. I am constantly learning from my class, and I am so proud when I see their progress!
My Project
My students need support in engaging socially. At school, we work in small groups playing games, using puppets and reading books. These small groups support social engagement at school.
By providing them access to a library of books and games that they can take home, the children will be able to participate in social activities with their parents, siblings and peers.
Since the books and games will be very familiar to the students, they will feel confident playing them in a different setting with different people. Our library needs high quality board games, card games and books to read aloud.
