Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach 20 amazing 2nd graders in downtown Lexington on 5th street. As I am sure many of you have heard, our school, like many others, has closed for the near future due to concerns with the coronavirus. We are in need of some resources and I am hoping you all can help!

My students all come from an area of extreme poverty, however, you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at their beautiful joy-filled faces that I see every day when they walk into my classroom.

I am a first-year teacher and looking for all of the help and resources that I can get to help these children succeed!

My Project

In the world today, technology is such a big part of our everyday lives and our students are not exempt from this. My students have used Chromebooks in the past because we have a set in our classroom, but with this potential for us having to be out of school indefinitely we really need ones that we can send home!

If we were to get these Chromebooks in the next few weeks, I would be able to communicate with them while they are at home and essentially virtually teach them the material that they need to know to continue into 3rd grade.
