Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My goal is to get children reading at home. I want them to develop a love of reading. I want them to enjoy reading. If they love reading, they will progress that much more quickly. Many of my students are second language learners. It is very hard for them to keep up just because of the lack of experience in English. Many of my students'parents don't speak English and have difficulty helping their child at home. Unfortunately, this means that my students are not being read to at home and are not reaping the benefits of home practice. This is my big plan. I would like to collect 25-30 books on tape for the children to check out weekly from my classroom. I believe that greater exposure to English literature will make a big difference for them.
