My Montessori students range in age from 5-9 years old and they move through our classroom from 1st-3rd grade. They form a loving, supportive, hardworking community. It is amazing to see our community grow every year and watch the "elders" teach our younger students. They take responsibility for themselves as well as the other students in our classroom. They strive to include everyone and help those that struggle.
My students are kind, self motivated, independent learners.
They come to school and immediately get started on their work. They are responsible for keeping our classroom environment clean and they take their responsibilities very seriously. Community meetings are led by students and they work together to find solutions to their problems. It is amazing to see them grow over 3 years and helping them reach their potential is an honor.
My Project
Our classroom is arranged so students can choose where they work, even if that means on the floor! Working on the floor gets uncomfortable after some time and often it is the only place to complete certain assignments. Floor cushions will help our class to work comfortably and encourage our students to work.
Our multi-age classroom works together throughout the day and having flexible seating is a must!
Having student sized stools in the classroom will make collaboration a breeze. They can grab a stool and sit with anyone who may need help and easily stack it away when they're finished.
