Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school’s Outdoor Learning Space is a thriving, multi-purpose area where students grow, gather, and learn. From science experiments under the sun to reading circles in the shade, this space allows us to extend classroom learning into the natural world. With a flourishing school farm and a Bay Area–adapted Indigenous garden, students engage deeply with sustainability, culture, and community. However, as the popularity of this space grows, so does the need for more seating to ensure every student has a place to participate and feel included.
We need your support to add two circular picnic tables with umbrella holes to make this space more welcoming and functional for everyone.
These tables will enhance our ability to host outdoor classes, community gatherings, lunch breaks, and cultural celebrations. The round design encourages collaboration and conversation, making it perfect for small group discussions, project work, or simply enjoying a meal together in nature. By investing in this project, you’re helping create a more inclusive and engaging outdoor classroom that serves hundreds of students each week.
This simple addition will have a big impact—not only providing durable, weather-resistant seating, but also supporting a learning environment rooted in wellness, equity, and hands-on discovery. As we continue to grow our programs in environmental education and Indigenous studies, these tables will help us cultivate a space that reflects our values and meets the needs of our vibrant school community.
