My Students

My 19 energetic kindergarten students need to move around and there is not a better way of doing that then providing them with seating choices and recess choices that allow them to get their bodies moving. Hands-on activities, movement and listening to stories is the majority of our day. Many families of our school have been in the school district for generations. I myself went to this school as a student that I am now teaching in. My kindergarten students' learning styles and needs are as diverse as their backgrounds, but they all have the yearning to be successful.

My Project

My students come to school with lots of energy and ready to learn! In kindergarten we like to stay moving but do need to sit at tables much of our day. Students need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Research shows that students learn better when they are physically active and have flexible seating options.

Students would enjoy the choice of working at a floor work space for certain activities throughout their day.

This option will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortable and move around while they are learning. A table that is low to the floor will be used with the floor seats or students can kneel at the table if they'd rather.

This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom!
