My Students

I teach fifth/sixth grade science l and social studies at a wonderful public charter school. Our school has an arts integration focus and students have enrichment classes that teach art, PE/movement, ​and Hawaiian Studies. My students are all engaged learners that truly love learning. My students are motivated learners that arrive each day ready to succeed! Our school community is very diverse; we have students living in 26 different zip codes! I am so blessed to work with such talented students, alongside supportive and caring colleagues, in a fabulous school environment. Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) for your consideration.

My Project

We're redesigning our classroom to build space for STEM exploration in a design lab. An important feature is a space where teams of students can collaborate on designs and plan their work. I've painted an old table as a whiteboard surface, so students can gather around. Students have access to Chromebooks and I will be putting a screen on the wall that groups can use to project a device, so everyone can look at the same thing. The one thing missing is...seating! I am requesting funding to purchase a set of four colorful ottomans for the groups to use. These soft, sturdy ottomans come in cool colors and are wipeable, so they are easy to clean. Please consider supporting my student designers and engineers by donating to this project.
