Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are leaders. They are passionate about learning and eager to acquire new knowledge. They are fascinated by the world of books. They come from a variety of economic backgrounds and a community filled with rich culture and traditions. My students love providing emotional support to others through words, letters or donations. They enjoy learning about current events and doing hands-on projects. Our school's vision is to prepare all students for success, college and careers. We emphasize developing skills and knowledge to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers.
My Project
My students spend most of their day in the classroom and in order to create a comfortable learning environment, I have decided to provide flexible seating to my students. It will allow them to take charge of their learning and create more independence. Currently, my students have the option of their desk, a small carpet or the floor as seating. When I give my students choices, I see more excitement and a higher desire to learn. As soon as I heard about flexible seating, I knew I wanted to give it a try. I think it will help my students stay focused and motivated throughout the day.
The more choices students have, the more they will feel responsible for their learning.
The products I have selected will give my students more choices in seating. I will use a variety of table styles and chair options such as bean bags and stability balls to create more choice. The tables will be set at different levels for those students who like to work standing up. The bean bags will be set in the reading area to create a library feel. Stability balls will allow more movement then a basic chair.
