Many of them use technology at home, but seeing how it works in the classroom has opened their eyes to new possibilities. Instead of watching lessons from a distance, students can now interact directly with what we're learning by dragging, drawing, highlighting, and solving problems right on the board. This hands-on experience keeps them engaged and makes concepts clearer and easier to understand than ever before.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most is the ability to use the many interactive features the smartboard offers. They love the bright colors, the ability to save our work, and the chance to come up and participate without the constant erasing and rewriting that our old whiteboard required. Switching back and forth between the projector and the laptop used to interrupt the flow of our lessons, but now everything is seamless and much more student-centered. Several students who were usually hesitant to participate are now the first to volunteer because the technology feels fun, safe, and inviting to them.\r\n\r\nA few students in particular have especially connected with the new technology. Some who struggle with traditional note-taking are now more confident because they can physically manipulate ideas on the board and see information presented visually. Others who love art or design are thrilled to use the different colors and tools to show their thinking in creative ways. Thanks to your generosity, every student has found a new entry point into learning, and our classroom feels more interactive, energized, and collaborative.","fullyFundedDate":1757292092080,"projectUrl":"project/tech-for-tomorrows-learners/9674628/","projectTitle":"Tech for Tomorrow’s Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Uribe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10237616_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y567&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756840846942","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10237616"},{"teacherId":10177597,"projectId":9629684,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for bringing a Smart Board to our 3rd grade classroom! Even my shy students are more confident when they can come up and show their thinking.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made learning more engaging, hands-on, and joyful. Many of you may use technology at home for work or entertainment, but in the classroom, it becomes a powerful tool to make learning interactive, visual, and fun. Instead of just watching a lesson, students can now step up and be part of it—dragging, drawing, highlighting, and problem-solving right on the board.\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been seeing their ideas come to life instantly. Whether it's solving math problems by moving pieces around, practicing spelling by tapping the correct words, or exploring maps in real time, the Smartboard makes learning feel like a game. The \"wow\" factor hasn't worn off they're always eager to be the one called up to the board.\r\nOne student in particular, who usually sits quietly and doesn't raise their hand often, has really blossomed since we began using the Smartboard. The chance to physically interact with the lesson has given them confidence, and they now volunteer to participate almost every day. Watching that growth has been one of the most rewarding parts of this project.\r\nThank you for making this possible. This wasn't just a story we read; it was a springboard for critical thinking and a hands-on exploration of key literary concepts. Students actively used their developing reading skills to delve into the text, preparing them for the rigors of third grade. We spent significant time discussing the intricate themes present in the book, analyzing the complex motivations of the characters, and dissecting essential story elements like plot, setting, and conflict. A highlight of this unit was comparing the movie adaptation to the book, prompting lively discussions about how different mediums tell a story, what details were kept or changed, and how these choices impacted their understanding and emotional connection to the narrative. These rich discussions fostered a deeper understanding of literature and strengthened their ability to articulate their interpretations, all thanks to the resources you provided that allowed us to dedicate such focused time to this impactful novel.\r\n\r\nThe learning extended far beyond the pages of the book. Inspired by Leslie and Jess's creation, our students embarked on their own engineering challenge: building a bridge. This project wasn't just fun; it was a practical application of problem-solving and teamwork, mirroring the themes of resilience and connection from the story. To celebrate the culmination of our reading journey and all the hard work they put in, we transformed our classroom into \"Starbooks,\" a special reading party where students shared their favorite moments, discussed their insights, and truly celebrated their growth as readers. This blend of in-depth literary analysis, hands-on creativity, and joyful celebration was made possible by your generosity, allowing us to create a truly memorable and impactful learning experience for our students","fullyFundedDate":1746801434858,"projectUrl":"project/turning-pages-changing-lives/9301777/","projectTitle":"Turning Pages, Changing Lives","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gonzalez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5637842_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755283295670","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5637842"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5359","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":617,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":88,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":95,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"18.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.7,"schoolId":5359,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pasteur Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pasteur Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/pasteur-elementary-school/5359"}
