My Students

In a room surrounded by animals and plants, my students enter our jungle of a classroom engulfed by science. The classroom is designed for exploration through research and learning, via hands-on activities. By the end of the year, I want my students to be at the forefront of a STEM education.

Each student is unique in his/her own way, which makes learning that much more special.

My students love learning about the ever-changing world of science, and are captured by the fact that every day brings new discoveries in science. The school is a welcoming environment, that encourages higher-level learning, while supporting the students at every step. The school houses over 1400 middle school students, who come from different ethnic backgrounds. In order to strengthen their learning experience, I want my students to utilize all the possible resources I can provide for them.

My Project

So many of my students hear the word STEM, or STEAM, being thrown around in the world of science. However, so many of them neglect to understand what being in an immersed world of STEM actually entail. I have a lot of female students that do not believe they belong in a STEM club because so many of the kids involved are young gentlemen. By incorporating photography into our STEM after school class, I am hoping to gain more female interest. We will be able to study how instax camera work and continue to build our STEM kits for a more powerful learning experience.

STEM Club after school is in dire need for supplies to gain greater interest from our fellow female students.

With STEM kits that will make these junior engineers into creative young engineers of the future that focus on computer program through our robot kits. Help us, help the future of STEM! With the cameras and film, my students will be able to take pictures of various objects and incorporating the mathematical aspect of STEM. For example, they could take pictures of books that form right angles and then a picture of the book opened to show an obtuse angle. Being creative with mathematics will help gain student interest in our after school club!
