Take a Picture... It'll Last Longer

My students need a printer, ink, and paper in order to produce pictures of themselves performing. They can add the picture to their assignments and rubrics, which are part of their portfolios to get into high school.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom starts with children hurrying to class to start our warm-up circle. Inside the warm-up circle, they stretch, warm-up their voices, and play theater games in preparation for acting and working with their fellow classmates.

Our children are open minded, ambitious, and nervous about what others think about them.

Our school expects everyone to follow the Bear Basics (manners), step outside their comfort zone and be part of a community looking out for each other. Our children come from hard working parents that partner with teachers and see the importance of working together in helping their child realize their potential.

My Project

Our children are part of a community that is starting to see more and more of their children succeed in college. Our school has a tough academic rigor, but to get into a good high school, we teach our students about service and the arts. Our students are responsible for building a portfolio of excellent papers, tests, proof of service to the community and taking part in the arts. The photo printer would be used to print all the students' acting presentations (at least two a month) in which they can attach the picture to a rubric or a paper explaining the assignment. That way when they interview for high schools, they can share their academic talents as well as their talents in the arts. They can show they are well rounded in their creations of costumes, puppets, make-up as well as performing.

The donations to this project will help the children improve their chances get into the high schools of their choice.

Nowadays, high schools as well as colleges want to see a more than academic progress in a portfolio. Our students will be able to share their knowledge of teamwork, working under pressure, working towards a deadline, being creative, and having self-confidence if they are able to show pictures that coincide with assignments in Theater Arts.
