My students need books that are inclusive of their individuality. They need books that show the same backgrounds, traditions, genders, and skin colors that they have. I am also asking for some storage containers.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Tibbs's classroom raised $265

My Students
We are a Title I school where 100% of my students receive a free breakfast, lunch, and snack. Many of my students are the recipients of food bags on the weekends as well as other resources to meet their needs.
Even though they are 5 and 6 - many of my kiddos are faced with challenges beyond what I can ever imagine.
My students come to school ready to work, learn, and grow their brains despite anything else that may be going on in their lives.
My Project
We need books that celebrate the diversity of our classroom. My scholars come from all different background, cultures, and languages. The majority of books in our library, and in the US, do not reflect the population.
37% of the US population are people of color but only 10% of children's books contain multicultural content.
It is so important that my students see themselves in the books about heroes, scientists, princesses, explorers, and everyday kids having fun.
Books are windows and mirrors to the whole world. My students need the opportunity to peer into the world through characters and people that represent them. They also deserve the chance to see themselves reflected in stories about who they can be.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
