My Students

I work at an amazing Title One school that was hit hard by Hurricane Florence. Not only did our school have to relocate, but many of our students and their families were left with damaged, unlivable homes and had to relocate as well. There have been so many challenges, changes, and losses this school year.

My goal is to help overcome these experiences and create the most inviting, engaging classroom for the children, a place they can count on every day to feel safe and loved, where they can learn and grow.

My Project

This project will put flexible seating choices into my classroom. In first grade, children are expected to grow 6 reading levels. This is a huge amount of growth, so we have no time to waste. Empowering students is vital to getting quality work done.

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and know the additional seating options will help us grow even more!

The wobble stools will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The lap desks/writing tables provide an alternative to sitting at a desk and the cushions will support lower table seating.
