This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 158 students who are vibrant and learning to improve their reading skills. My students come from a diversity of backgrounds and cultures. In addition, I have students with a variety of exceptionalities ranging from autism spectrum to specific learning disabled. My students are building a great school community and are improving their reading each day both in person and online.
My Project
We use this expandable ball as a visual representation to help us with breathing every day before we get started in class. Many of my students have expressed the desire to have their very own breathing ball. We use this daily and the students have also stated that they would like to take turns breathing with it, but because of COVID, I can't share the ball and I am the one to always use it as the visual.
My students would benefit from having something to help them self-regulate and de-stress in these very stressful times.
I hope I am able to provide them with such a simple and helpful tool!
