Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All of us struggle at one point or another. My gifted students are no exception. They are the type of kiddos that will take Honors and AP classes, play sports after school, participate in an internship or volunteer, and more. While this is fantastic, they sometimes break down.
My amazing students face feelings of anxiety to be perfect, depression when they struggle or experience failure, academic or commitment burnout, and more.
My goal as a counselor is to provide them with a space where they can take a moment to focus on their mental health. Currently, my office is designed to provide students an opportunity to work on their academic classes. With the products I selected, I can divide my office using the room divider to give my students privacy to process their thoughts and feelings. I plan to use the wall decals to help my students use grounding and breathing techniques. I want to provide them with an opportunity to read a book and decompress on a fun yet comfortable bean bag.
