My Students
My school has been serving K-6 students, both military dependents and local residents, since 1956 as part of the Hawaii State Department of Education. My classroom integrates a remarkably diverse population that includes Filipinos, Caucasians, African-Americans, Samoans, and Asian-Americans.
I am an elementary school special education teacher, teaching students where small groups, close proximity, and acceptance is very important.
My students range in abilities and grade-levels, which makes my classroom a fun and unique environment to be a part of.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in the daily lives of my students and improve their lives at school. My classroom consists of students who need consistent breaks between working. It is easy to put them on an iPad or something with technology (which I encourage) but I also want them to be able to explore with toys that are beneficial to both their interest and their creativity.
The LEGO's (for both the boys and the girls), Marble Run, and the K'nex building sets are a great way for my students to find stress relief from their workloads.
I really want to encourage them to use their hard-earned break time with things that have a secret educational aspect that gives them another outlet besides technology.
