My Students

I am our school's library teacher.

Each week students come to the library to choose their weekly library books, but we also do more.

They love to explore books and authors using technology! Each student has a school-issued iPad to use. They are in grades kindergarten through six. They are from all economic backgrounds. They love fiction and nonfiction, chapter books, and picture books. They use their iPads to look up books, to find information, to create, to communicate, and to share.

My Project

Our school recently moved into a new building. At our old school, we had a Little Free Library near the door. It was purchased in memory of a former second-grade teacher. The Little Free Library was between the parent and bus drop off areas and saw lots of action. Teachers, parents, and even students left books in it for others. Students and their families checked it all the time for books to read in school or at home. We are so lucky to be at a new school, and we brought along our Little Free Library.

Where should we put our Little Free Library?

Unfortunately, our parent drop off is now at the opposite end of the building from our bus drop off. Please help us solve this dilemma by donating money for a second Little Free Library! All students would then have access to free books for reading at any time!

My project also includes the picture book Little Libraries, Big Heroes. If funded, we will read the book in library classes to celebrate!
