This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like to hear the words of book in your head for the first time as you were reading? My students are just beginning to discover that books can take them places as far as their imaginations can travel.
My first graders are active learners.
They are eager to learn and take part in the world around them. Many of my students do not have access to a computer or any type of technology which would give them a chance to read any types of books at home. It is often a challenge to go to the library to check out a book or to have someone to read to them or listen to them read.
My Project
Leapfrog Tag Reading Systems and earbuds would open a whole new world of opportunity for my students. They would be able to practice reading decoding and fluency skills in an engaging and fun way. This would help them to remember and retain concepts that they need to learn.
In order to meet the unique needs of each of my 26 students, I spend most of my instructional time in small groups. My students will be able to use the Leapfrog Tag Readers during independent literacy center time. They will be able to be actively engaged in independent reading even when they are not in a small group with me. Each student will be able to receive the differentiated instruction that they need.
If there were donors willing to donate money to my students, they would be presenting them with an engaging and active way of learning to read and succeed in school.
You will make it possible for my 26 eager learners to independently read and succeed in first grade concepts which they need to know. You would be providing the opportunity for my students to succeed in becoming avid and fluent readers.
