This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading can take you any place you want to go. Whether its climbing up the alphabet tree in Chicka Chicka Boom Boom or seeing what Fancy Nancy is up to. I would like my students to experience a plethora of different literature.

Many of my students come from low income families where both parents work long hours and do not speak English.

For this reason my students are not exposed to the many wonderful authors that I as a child got to experience. They love listening to stories and I think the Tag Readers would be a great addition to our classroom.

My Project

We need 4 Tag readers to help facilitate more students with independent reading. With a class of 30 students and only one teacher, they don't get the reading practice to become fluent readers like they should. These tag readers would bring us up to the 21st century. Students use the pen to scan text on a page. The words are then read aloud through headphones. The special books that are designed for the pens not only contain a story, but have games and vocabulary lessons that keep the children excited and motivated. These books work on specific skills such as vowel sounds or retelling of the story.
