Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The majority of the students I work with are bilingual/ENL learners and many need the support of reading and need constant exposure to literature. I want to provide students with access to magnetic letters to help them build words during phonics instruction. The clear large plastic bags will be used to make little literacy centers with magnetic letters, magnetic boards, and markers. I want to create individual phonics baggies to support the RTI instruction for reading.

Each new day is an opportunity to inspire the passion for literacy which can be done with tactile movement to support students in developing the foundation of reading.

I am requesting the phonics flashcards to help build the literacy bags and centers. Phonics is a skill that many of my students have deficits in. In addition, I also service students for their math goals and all of their goals include to include fact fluency, which the math flashcards can help support using during small groups.

I use a positive rewards system in which students receive tickets after each session which can be exchanged for a prize, one of the options for prizes is candy.

I believe that it takes an entire team to help students become successful, together we can succeed.
