it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is on a Reserve Base. We serve the children of our men and women serving in the United States military from all branches. Our school has over 1000 children that come from diverse military families. Children move every few years and have to start a new school because of the military parents' duty station transfer.
At our school, teachers and staff members strive to provide the best possible education to the military children that have to endure a new home, new school, and new friends every few years.
The mission of our school is to educate our military-dependent children, no matter what their background or previous school experience, to fully achieve their personal and academic potential through the acquisition of core knowledge and the skills of analysis, problem-solving, communication, and global responsibility.
My Project
Students with special needs require multi sensory modes of instructional supplies. These type of items enables children with learning disabilities and special needs to use a variety of senses to learn from their environment as well as to reduce stressors they may encounter within their learning environment. These sensory items like the Sensory Process disorder tools, weighted vest, and pencil grippers would allow children with special needs to have multitude ways to express their feelings and emotions as well as reduce daily stress levels. The wiggle seats will allow children with special needs to be able to remain seated for a longer period of time while learning in a regular educational classroom setting. These tactile sensory items will provide the instructors the necessary tools to assist the special needs of our students on a daily basis within the learning environment.
