My students need math band bracelets to practice our fluency, dry erase markers and math fact boards to practice our facts, inflatable chairs and bean bag refill packs to use in our comfy seating area.
I'm very fortunate to inherit a class such as this one to talk about, as well as to teach. I work on a Native American Reservation in North Dakota where the 90% of my students are Native American. My students have a daily struggle of many different and difficult hardships. The only structured environment most of my students know is the one I can provide for them at school.
Knowing their harsh backgrounds full of poverty and abuse, and greeting them at the door everyday seeing a smile on their face and ready to tackle learning goals has really humbled me.
I'm a lucky teacher with incredible students that treasure learning!
My students love to draw, do art, read, do math and learn. In third grade we get to introduce how to multiply. They get so excited when we get to do multiplication! Mastering the idea and applying the knowledge they gained is thrilling for them! Most of all we love to laugh together and build life lasting friendships.
My Project
My students need gear to tackle the multiplication monster! This year my students need materials to tame this monster and help train it to use for any time the moment arrives! Simply put my students need supplies to help them on the road to math fluency for multiplication so division and fractions become easier for them.
I am requesting math band bracelets to practice our fluency, dry erase markers and math fact boards to practice our facts, inflatable chairs and bean bag refill packs to use in our comfy seating area.
The students will be able to practice their multiplication facts with the boards and markers, and what better way to do it then on some new comfy chairs! My students need multiplication fact bracelets so they may practice any chance they get. Memorizing and learning their facts will become much easier with these supplies for my class.
Another amazing thing happened this year, I introduced flexible seating to my classroom! My students get the choice of wherever they want to sit, as long as they're doing their third grade best! They get to choose from bean bags, stability balls, desks, tables, rocking chairs, bungee chairs, sofa, and I even have a few pillows for them. They're thriving in this environment! Not only are they comfortable but their anxiety has left the room as well. However over time the bean bags are becoming flat, and I need replacements. The new chairs and and bean bag beans will help my students have better seating arrangements to make the much more comfortable.
With these supplies I'm positive my students will not only master their facts but be more comfortable in the process!
