Tablets to Ignite First Grade Reading Fluency!

My Students

First graders are curious and inquisitive! As readers and writers they are on the verge of using all they know to sound out words and read with beginning fluency. Our scholars were really getting into comparing character's experiences like Frog and Toad.

Our students lack equity in having technology at home such as a tablet with books available that are the appropriate level, enough to challenge, but not so hard home learning will be too frustrating students will fall behind.

My Project

If each student had their own tablet, the family of these students could access to the reading curriculum ARC bookshelf teacher guides and student practice pages. These low income families of first grade students need leveled material just like this that is easily adjusted to their child's current learning needs.

Family members who are suddenly charged with home schooling could use this format especially families that are struggling with ideas for reading material that is interesting and supports the skill level.

Although the school district sent home packets, this format provides the right challenge and the right support and the right high interest materials all the the family members reach.
