Our students are special and quite unique. We are located in a rural area that is surrounded by national forest land and nature is our backyard. They, however; are limited in the area of cultural awareness and life experiences outside their community. Some people in the community consider this an asset but when students venture outside their home area, they are lacking in their social and real world experiences/knowledge. Which leads to the question, "Where does the responsibility of teaching students about other cultures and the acceptance of differences in other cultures begin?" Is it the parent's, school's, community's or a collaborative effort by all?
I am interested in providing a well rounded approach to their education and I would like to provide a wide range of experiences, as well as opportunities for each of my students.
They deserve the best.
I am requesting Amazon tablets for my students. I am requesting these tablets first of all, because there are none in my classroom. My students and I would discover more and more teachable moments by using these devices in my classroom.
The world uses these devices and the majority of my students don't have access to them at home or don't have internet access at home.
The school is the only way for them to use them. This would open up a whole new world for some of my students. I would like to offer them a piece of the world in my classroom.
