Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my Pre-Kindergarten classroom, most students are English language learners from a low-income neighborhood. Parents are very involved in their child's education and want to help in any way possible. I find different means to communicate with parents to create a partnership.
I love working with early learners because they are so curious about the world.
The best part of teaching three-year-olds is that they become wait to do things for themselves and have so much joy for little things. At this stage, building relationships, learning from one another, and collaboration are truly encouraged!
My Project
In my PK-3 classroom, we often use "play" for learning. Students are encouraged to create or match using hands-on material during center time. This is fun but often the final product is not documented or celebrated. I want to change that by using ClassDojo or Seesaw to document work and create portfolios. Using a tablet, students will have access to taking photographs of their work and submitting them for approval by the teacher.
This will allow students to be self-accountable and involve parents to see their work through the software.
It will also allow me to monitor progress and growth. I will be able to identify areas of growth and give students personalized instruction.
