My students need to enter this century and get familiar with tools used by so many. We need three Google Nexus tablets to help propel us into the present and future!
Do you know how it feels to be the last to use modern technology? That is how my students feel. Pads/tablets help reluctant readers and mathematicians get the learning bug! Three Google Nexus tablets would help students build skills in using technology and in basic reading, writing and math.
This small, rural school really suffers from the lack of school funding.
The budget doesn't stretch far enough. Most of my students don't have much at home either. All classrooms are blended with two or three grade levels encouraging everyone to learn and help each other. Technology like a Nexus with instant access to the internet could open up their minds to the world outside our tiny community. Help us experience ebooks, learning apps and the joy of learning in new ways. Help us join the modern world and be ready for the future.
My Project
Although I am asking for only three Google Nexus tablets, I feel we can effectively use them in our classrooms by sharing, partnering, and learning new ways to incorporate these technology tools into our routines. Nexus machines can use Google Docs, so we will be able to create stories, research and write papers, collect data and create graphs, and so much more. Then there are the ebooks and apps for reading, math, science, social studies, health, and language arts. These three Google Nexus tablets could prepare us for the future and compel some reluctant/disenchanted learners to work towards new goals and achievements.
Help put technology in our hands.
We need the opportunity to look at learning in new ways. A book on a pad is so different than the familiar paper. A math facts drill is so much easier to complete when it is a game. Writing a research paper becomes fun when you can research by "clicking" your way through the Internet, using a keyboard in your lap, and sharing your work with your classmates and maybe even an expert in the field. These three tablet devices will help our students soar.
