This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in an inner city, state funded pre-K program. My students are 4 and 5 years old and most students live in the neighborhood around the school. My students are enthusiastic and eager to learn. They love coming to school every day and I try to provide them with positive learning experiences that are educational, as well as developmentally appropriate for their age level. My staff and I provide a warm and loving environment that the kids feel safe to learn and explore in.
My Project
I would love to have enough kid friendly tablets for one small group so that each child in the small group will have his or her own tablet to work with. I plan to load some educational games to enhance numeral and letter recognition in addition to other math and pre-reading skills. I currently have a few desk top computers that the children have access to, but they are often in need of service. I also think tablets are more kid friendly and allow the children to navigate more independently. They will be able to use these tablets not only in small group, but throughout the day as well.
