How do we prepare our young students for our global society? And how do we make sure that they are ready for the demands of the 21st century so they can be competitive in their future endeavors?
My fourth graders come to school willing to learn and to challenge their minds.
I have students who range in different abilities in reading, writing, and math, but coding is a unique way of learning, where all students can exercise a different part of their brain and learn in a different style. Not only will my students learn how to code, but it will help students to collaborate, engage with each other, and use their voice to share their creative ways of thinking and offer different ways to solve problems.
My Project
My students need Fire HD 8 tablets to enhance their learning opportunities. In our classroom, we have several different coding robots to help my students learn to code and program. The only problem is, we don't have any resources to code the robots on.
Research has shown that coding in the classroom is linked to improved problem solving and analytical reasoning, and students who develop a mastery of coding have a natural ability and drive to construct, hypothesize, explore, experiment, evaluate, and draw conclusions.
Kindle Fire tablets will allow my students to download apps that will help my students code and program their robots.
The tablets will also allow my students to enhance their learning through apps that reinforce the concepts and standards being taught in my classroom.
