Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Never a dull moment in kindergarten! My students walk in the door curious, observant, and ready to start the day. They notice EVERYTHING....from a new book on display, to a new lipstick color, etc. They are a sharp bunch. My class is loaded with boys this year. I have 13 boys and 8 girls. This explains the random cartwheels across the carpet, running around a small space pretending to be Power Rangers, and other things little boys do. My class enjoys most subjects, but let's be real....THEY LOVE RECESS! This is literally the time of day when I see the most smiles.

My students actually LOVE coming to school and they actually get sad at the end of the day.

They don't want to leave. A student told me that he wished that I could have a home school so that he could live at school. After the first long break, I was surprised to hear my students say they were READY to return. They missed learning, friends, and recess! These kiddos love school and the community they belong to!

My Project

Unfortunately, almost all of my students entered kindergarten below grade-level expectations in math and reading. I am excited about getting the Samsung Tablets to assist those students who continue to need additional support. The Samsung Tablets will be used to practice reading and spelling sight words. They will also help students build necessary foundational reading skills. These devices will be attractive to my students during math. I can imagine them using the tablets to learn counting skills, addition, geometry, addition facts, and much more. The Samsung Tablets with supplement instruction. There are twenty-one students and only 1 of me! The Samsung Tablets will be a win-win for my kiddos as well as myself. Thank you for considering this project!
