My students need 6 tablets to use for both literacy and mathematics. These tablets will be used to access the myON reading app, play interactive phonics games, and utilize different reading and math interventions.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine walking into your classroom after greeting your students at the door and getting flowers from them that they picked on their journey to school, just to make your day that much brighter. This is just a glimpse into my classroom and the kind hearted students that I get the pleasure to teach every single day.
Although my students come from a high poverty background in the Bronx, this does not stop them from giving to others.
Since we are located in a high poverty area, it's difficult to give my students the resources that I know would impact their learning significantly due to the lack of funding.
I would love nothing more than to provide them with the resources they need in order to stay engaged, learn 21st century skills, and spark a love of learning.
My Project
These tablets will make a huge impact on student learning. Currently, there are only two computers in our classroom which leaves little room for students to interact with technology each day. Since technology is becoming a large part of our everyday lives, it is imperative that my students have the 21st century technology skills needed and can learn from multiple resources.
Your generous donations for these tablets will allow my students to engage with technology on a daily basis and help differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all types of learners.
For instance, the tablets will be used during our literacy centers.
One of the centers can now be a technology center where the students play interactive phonics games, use SmartyAnts intervention system, or read on myON. Furthermore, my students are grouped for math centers and independent work.
My students can play interactive math games applicable to the units and can utilize the tablets for different intervention systems such as Waterford and ThinkCentral. With your help, my students can achieve that much more!
