We are a sweet, little neighborhood school in a military town. We have high ESOL and SPED populations and are a Title I school. I say all of that because in spite of having certain difficulties, my 75 fourth graders are the sweetest kiddos on earth. They work hard and deserve the very best. Our parents also want the very best for their babies!
Some people see "Title I" and think we get large sums of money for additional resources, but that's not true for us.
Thankfully, our students score well on the GMAS. Test scores are large indicators for funding, so our budget is considerably less than other Title I schools.
My Project
Currently, I have one desktop computer that is 7 years old and a laptop with a missing "tab" key. There are so many online resources to help reinforce the math standards I teach.
Unfortunately, I lack the resources to do so effectively.
Students can use the tablets to practice basic math facts with speed drills, work on standards that need remediation or accelerate their learning once they've mastered one. We can review for tests in fun and engaging ways and I can track their progress electronically. I'd love to have a class set, but having 7 will at least give me a small group set and be an answered prayer.
