My Students

As a special education teacher, in a school for students with significant intellectual disabilities the demographics of my students are very diverse. My students have a wide range in academic, social, and health related needs. All my students have a disability, those disabilities could include: intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, emotional disabilities, behavior disabilities, dual diagnosis, Autism, complex health needs, and complex communication needs.

My current students are in 7th/8th grade ranging in skills academically, physically, behaviorally, and intellectually.

My students are both caring and unique. They enjoy learning by creating, engaging and collaborating. My goal is to give them a safe, loving environment with the appropriate supplies, resources and materials to foster their learning every single day. I want them to come to school knowing they have someone who cares not only about their academic progress, but also their dreams and aspirations, and life outside of school.

My Project

These tablets will be used in all academic areas, as well as for student break times. In reading, they may be used to download age appropriate books and audio books for students. They may also be used for writing activities. In math, there are numerous applications that can be downloaded for the students to practice their math skills through engaging and interactive math games. There are also some applications that allow students to experience science labs through technology.

I think these different uses will help add another fun way to engage with content and curriculum for my students.

All of my students like to learn in different ways and this will give me another fun option to help them learn!
