This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is not your typical math classroom. My students work in teams solving problems everyday. The read and write mathematically. It is a challenging room, made up of diverse students who by the end of the year can solve problems better than they ever thought they could.

My students are very diverse and come from all sorts of backgrounds, we give every student equal access to a quality education.

We have a large special education population, low income population and one of the most diverse campuses in our district.

My Project

We are creating a new computer science program here at Monte Vista and we have an amazing computer lab to use but our students will also be creating apps so we need tablets for the students to work on and test the apps that they create.

The tablets will play a major role in our app creation, for our beginning computer science essentials class.

My colleague and I are going to training this summer and need to have tablets to work on while we are there. We will conduction all of the experiments and writing code this summer. When we return in the fall, we will teach the students how to use these skills and their creativity to build and design their own unique apps.
