My students need 5 tablets for more efficient communication with teachers. My students do not have motor skills to write, but they have the ability to use tablets.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very special because of their ability to comprehend the lessons being taught to them during class. Although they understand their teachers, due to their being severely autistic, they cannot communicate the way average children do because they are verbally disabled. They are very bright and they all live in an economically disadvantaged community in an inner city school.
My students are very smart but still need tools to communicate effectively with my assistant and me.
I feel that given up to date technology, my students will benefit by having an easier line of communication which will make the day run much smoother and more efficiently. My students are very good with computers and they understand how to use such technology.
My Project
My students do not have the motor skills to write with pencil and paper, but they do have the skills to touch and tap on apps on tablets. Having these tablets will strongly benefit the kids because there are plenty of apps which pertain to the needs of autistic children.
For example, if a student needs to use the restroom, they can tap on an icon that will alert me to their needs and I can know to take them to the restroom.
Or if I need to know their emotion for the day, their tablets will show a list of emoticons and they can tap on the corresponding emotion and I will know how they feel .
My students need structure in their learning, and I feel that their day will be much more structured and efficient with these tools which will not only benefit them but will also benefit myself as their teacher.
