My students do not have the motor skills to write with pencil and paper, but they do have the skills to touch and tap on apps on tablets. Having these tablets will strongly benefit the kids because there are plenty of apps which pertain to the needs of autistic children. For example, if a student needs to use the restroom, they can tap on an icon that will alert me to their needs and I can know to take them to the restroom. Or if I need to know their emotion for the day, their tablets will show a list of emoticons and they can tap on the corresponding emotion and I will know how they feel . My students need structure in their learning, and I feel that their day will be much more structured and efficient with these tools which will not only benefit them but will also benefit myself as their teacher.
