The students in my 2nd grade class are some of the most unique and interesting young people I have engaged with in my life. We are sometimes put in situations where we have to work with less than we want. Some of my students come from less than ideal living situations. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
The majority of my students eat breakfast and lunch at school.
They depend on me and our school system for a lot of things, and that includes, most importantly, a good education. I am here to find some help in providing an even stronger education for my students now and years to come.
My Project
I am requesting these iPads for my students to use to complete all kinds of activities on. The students in today's classrooms are very bright and tech-savvy. My students are right up there, too. They know how operate tablets better than computers these days. They would have the option to use these tablets not only around the classroom but around the school. We try to do many projects that involve leaving the classroom, and the tablets would enhance that experience.
What I'm most excited for is the reading possibilities that can be accomplished with them.
We use a reading website where the students rack up points by completing more stories. These iPads will make that activity even easier and more interactive for the students. Overall, I think they would be extremely helpful resources for the students to use. The education world is moving into the digital world at a rapid rate. I feel lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with new technology as a young student and beyond. I want to pass that knowledge to my students!
