Tablets for my Reading Centers

My students need Samsung Galaxy Tablets to integrate technology into the classroom. We will be using research-based reading programs on the tablets to help promote higher learning gains in reading.

My Students

Can you imagine having an impact on children wanting to become life-long learners? I teach in a 1st grade classroom, where students are in the early years of their education and are, for the most part, excited to come to school and learn. This is the age when early literacy, basic math skills, and other foundational skills are established, and confidence is either acquired or diminished based on each student's overall success with building these foundational skills.

A child's success in reading, during the first few years of education, will help establish a foundation and maintain a level of confidence and excitement for learning.

It is imperative to give each child an opportunity to succeed and master the skills necessary to set a strong literacy foundation. I work at a school that strives to make a positive impact on each child, encouraging each child to strive for excellence and make academic gains, regardless of their circumstances. 68% of the students at my school qualify for free/reduced price lunch. This is an incredible opportunity to ensure that each student has the best chance for academic success, enabling them to achieve amazing life-long dreams in the future.

My Project

Students in today's classrooms need an opportunity to access learning materials and programs using technology. I work in a classroom that has only 3 computers for 25 students. Over the summer, I purchased 3 Amazon Fire Tablets; however, these reading programs are not supported by the Fire Tablets. They are however, supported by the Samsung Galaxy Tablets. Due to the expense, I need your help to fund these pieces of equipment. These tablets will create an opportunity for more of my students to interact with technology while making learning gains on research based educational programs.

It is imperative in many of these research programs that students access the program regularly, and with only 3 computers per 25 students, this just isn't feasible.

Please help me integrate more technology into the classroom by funding my project. I need a total of 6 tablets, which will be separated into 3 different projects. Please consider helping me fund these projects for my classroom.
