My Students

Teaching second grade students is very rewarding. Can you imagine trying to teach a perfectionist with inadequate resources for her to shine with her product? At the second grade level, they strive for facts and perfectionism, as well as cooperation and collaboration. While still needing guidance, 7-8 year old's work toward more classroom independence and excelling in their learning. Their creativity blossoms, but many ideas are constrained due to lack of or limited technology in our classroom. In today's society where children see and master technology at young ages, they should be able to express themselves with projects and classwork to the utmost potential.

My Project

Tablets will be used across all content areas. However, my focus is for my second graders to use technology with their writing standards. For example, in writing class my students will be able to take what they wrote in class and use the tablets to create their story with pictures/graphs and type it out. They will then be able to record their voice and have it presented in the class. This will meet various writing standards such as use technology to produce and publish writing in collaboration with peers as well as speaking and listening standards.
