Tablets for a Bilingual and Diverse Learner Classroom
My students need 20 tablets to support differentiated learning. Having tablets will help me create differentiated work for my students who are bilingual and diverse learners.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Think of a classroom that is an equal mix of bilingual and diverse learners. All the instruction for these students needs to be differentiated to meet each of their individual end of the year goals. I want my students to receive the education they deserve with the instruction at their level.
My students come from a low-income school on the west side of Chicago.
Over 95% of the students at my school qualify for free lunch. Many students in the school do not have Internet access at home and are forced to go to the library to complete any sort of research assignment.
My class is over 95% bilingual, as well as 30% of the class are diverse learners. These students have exceptional needs, as well as goals that need to be met. The students love technology and see it as a great resource to help them achieve their goals. They are motivated to meet their goals, and excited to continue learning and expanding on their reading and math skills.
My Project
I have requested twenty tablets to support differentiated learning. These tablets will help assist with differentiated instruction based on each student's individual level. Students will have access to assignments at their level that I can personally create for them and send to them through an online program. I will have the capability of assigning work and creating quizzes to see how well my students are mastering a standard. Also, the students will have access to a variety of online resources to help them expand their reading and math knowledge.
Your donation to this project will change the type of material that my students are exposed to.
By having this technology available to the students throughout the whole day, the students will always be receiving instruction at their level.
Considering this is a bilingual and diverse learner classroom, it is important that the students feel confident in the work they are producing. By having work at their level, this can help boost their confidence in the work that they produce in the classroom.
