My students need technology that is appropriate for their levels! Tablets would allow them to be more engaged, to access stories, to be flexible and learn right on the carpet, and to just have fun while learning!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students put the word "special" in special education! They are an adorable bunch of little ones with curious minds, active imaginations, and eager hands. These little sponges are ready to absorb knowledge and need help to access it.
As time goes on, I see how important technology is for all students, yet mine need it even more!
I teach students in grades K-4, all with a variety of disabilities including learning disabilities, autism, language delays, emotional or behavioral disabilities, and cognitive delays. For students struggling to identify letters or sounds, to read or write, and to comprehend text, technology is needed. We do have desktops yet the students at this age struggle to interact with them so they need touch screens to promote engagement and learning.
My Project
Although I have been a special education teacher for 20 years, I have just recently started working with younger grades. I am a resource teacher so the students who come to my classroom have autism, learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, or cognitive delays. They need content modified and need curriculum presented in every possible format.
Many of my students struggle to engage with desktop computers or laptops.
At this age, they need tablets with touch screens to help them access all of the amazing programs out there such as interactive letter games, stories, touch counting, and flash cards.
Tablets would enhance our day by adding a technology center where kids could practice literacy and math skills in an interactive, engaging format. They would have such fun learning with tablets!
