My Project
I am requesting additional tablets for my first grade classroom. I was previously blessed with five tablets through Donors Choose. I am working toward obtaining a class set so that they may be utilized by my entire classroom at one time. At this point, students must share by taking turns which affects time management within our school day.
Tablets are so beneficial in a first grade classroom as students are learning to explore books which leads to a love of reading and comprehension.
First grade is such a magical time. My students are excited to read and are so anxious to take a test over a selected book. They become so motivated! Our only setback is that we do not have enough for every student within a given time frame.
Tablets are used for the Accelerated Reading program as students read and take comprehension tests over each book that they read independently. Tablets will also be used to focus on practicing math facts and skills. As a supplement, additional tablets may be used as an extension of learning such as games and activities that focus on specific skills. This could be used as enrichment and in some cases remediation when necessary.
