This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Microsoft founder Bill Gates was a long time evangelist for tablet PCs, laptops whose screens can be twisted around so that they’re on the outside when closed, instead of face to face with a keyboard. Back in 2001, he predicted that within five years, “the tablet PC will be the most popular pc"

All of my students are not use to technology...I've been in an ongoing fight to change that.

The urban school that I teach at is a title 1 school, taken over by the state because of low Connecticut Mastery Test scores. Science is now included in the state of CT under No Child Left Behind, and every door I can open for these students that have nothing when they go home that is scientific, makes a world of difference. My students scores have risen over the years on the science CMT testing since I've been on a mission to have a complete technology classroom that fulfills what every class should have. I wish I could get each student of mine a tablet to use for classwork, projects and homework...yet this is just the beginning of my mission for this to happen, so maybe some day all my students will!

My Project

As I said before, technology in my science classroom is essential to "grab" my students attention since they don't have anything when they go home. Our district is in dire needs of materials to create interest in our children, and I'm on a mission to create this dream...all my students having the ability to use technology in class and love it so they understand that science is the most important subject to learn in this day and age. Other countries are beating us in advances in all science fields, and I believe i can change that a year at a time with my classroom. A tablet will show how technology is changing so quickly, and each group of students will have the chance to use this for each project that I create on the tablet.

Share my dreams about how Applied Sciences is needed more than ever in urban cities, and that one extra creative device in the classroom will spark interest in my students that have so many issues outside the class.

Let's let them enjoy school and give them creativity!!!
