Being a science teacher to special need students, I need to keep my students engaged and able to show them what they are learning. Everyone has the ability to learn, we just learn in different ways!
I have a very diverse group of exceptional students.
My autistic and mild/moderate intellectual disable students are often excited and ready to engage in scientific discussion through investigations that involve inquiry and research. These types of activities help engage every student in the classroom and provide a way for them to explore their thoughts by building on ideas from others.
My students love a change of pace; they love to be active, and they desire to explore, collaborate and create. Solving mysteries, debating opinions and figuring things out are exciting learning moments for them in my class.
My students are curious and ready to explore the scientific world through hands-on activities and technology that enhances their research.
My Project
The Apple iPad tablet that I am requesting will allow my students to research and explore beyond textbooks and other limited resources provided to them. This tool will be used effectively to enhance my students' scientific knowledge by providing them with the opportunity to further investigate and analyze their topic of research. Students will be able to use the camera and video software on the tablet to collect and record their data. Having moved beyond the book, my students will be able to contribute better to a class discussion and provide evidence that will prove their scientific stance on the topics we are studying in class.
