My students are high school special needs students who I see in 90 minute blocks. Regular student desks just do not cut it and are too small. They need room to move and manipulate math items. They are not your typical kids and tables and chairs accommodate and meet the unusual needs of my students.
I am a special education teacher who offers pull out services for core subjects.
I will be teaching math this year. My students have everything from learning disabilities to health impairments. They have very different needs. We are an AAA school and busting at the seems. We have no budget in our to improve our broken desks and seats as we keep getting larger and larger. We are a wonderful school to be at and considered by the community the best school high school in our area. I love what I am doing and would never give up working with special education. I want to offer a more suitable work space to my students that also accommodate their special needs. These tables and chairs would allow them to be more comfortable and make working together easier. It also allows them to spread out with all their math manipulatives.
My Project
My students will be able to sit down to work and yet have room to move about without disturbing the other students. It will also allow the room arrangement to be better. It gives them more surface area to work from and allows them to be able to use math manipulatives with ease. Some with health impairments will be able to stand behind the table and still work when needed. Those with restless legs or twitching won't disturb others. With desks we are back to back, with tables we can space out.
The donations on this project will help my students be more successful.
They will allow them comfort in a 90 minute block. They will meet needs I am unable to meet now. As the title implies tables plus chairs equals success.
